Ashford Borough Council has appointed a Kent-based company to handle maintenance, servicing and repairs to its growing corporate property portfolio.

The council has awarded a five year contract to property and building maintenance specialist DCB (Kent) Limited after a tender process which set a high benchmark for service levels, efficiency and value for money. The contract is worth £1 million.

DCB is now responsible for a large corporate property portfolio which includes the largest office complex in the town, Park Mall shopping centre, several business and industrial estates and a town centre cinema and leisure complex. The authority’s acquisition strategy is contributing significantly to income and helping to fund services across the borough, while helping to maintain the lowest council tax in Kent.

Paul McKenner, head of corporate property and projects at Ashford Borough Council, said DCB already had an impressive track record of delivering high quality projects in Ashford. In recent years the firm has designed and built the Repton Connect community centre and dozens of new homes for the council and housing associations.

“DCB is hugely experienced in providing maintenance and property support services to local authorities and we look forward to reaping the benefits of their expertise in this area.”

Paul Baker, commercial director for DCB (Kent) Limited, said: “We are pleased to have secured this new contract with one of our longest-standing clients and look forward to working with the council team to deliver these vital maintenance services for the next five years.”
