Education: Business – Building A Local Talent Pipeline

20th June 2023
Paul Brooks

Calling all North Kent employers in the construction-engineering sectors.

We would like to invite you to attend an event to be hosted on the 22nd June from 4.15pm at the impressive Berkeley Modular site in nearby Northfleet.

The council’s economic development team frequently hear about the recruitment and retention difficulties experienced by local employers and this event is intended to kick off a conversation about how this might be addressed, with an independent group training approach that draws together demand for training places and matches it to the most suitable courses and skills programmes, whether Apprenticeships or other vocational options – working directly with employers.

The aim is high quality ‘employer-led’ pathways for school leavers and others new to a career in construction-engineering-production industries – to enter these sectors locally, here in north Kent & over time to develop a pipeline of talent to assist local employers in securing current & future investment in the local economy.

Confirmed attendees: Berkeley Modular, Kimberly-Clark, O’Halloran and O’Brien, Prepworld, Britannia Refined Metals / Glencore and Carbon3 Group, Clarion. Ebbsfleet United FC and Army Reservists will also be represented, as part of the community outreach and supporting incentives which could be on offer to potential recruits.

The event will bring together school careers leaders from across north Kent, a group of key employers and speakers from a successful local training Academy, Group Training trailblazers, North Kent College and the School of Engineering, Technology and Design at Canterbury Christchurch University.

Our event partners include the Careers and Enterprise Company and The Education People, who are fully-funded to work with schools and education providers.

We would be delighted to welcome you and colleagues from HR or other operational / delivery teams.
