Major Gas Works: Gore Road, Dartford

23rd July 2019
Paul Brooks

SGN are currently carrying out some essential work to upgrade the gas network in Gore Road, Dartford. This essential work involves the replacement of old metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure we continue to provide a safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.

They have been experiencing some issues with motorists driving in an unsafe manner and ignoring the signed diversion route around our road closure.

We have been monitoring the situation closely and unfortunately, we’ve experienced further issues with motorists ignoring these signs.

In close consultation with Kent County Council, we have now agreed to re-open Darenth Park Avenue to normal traffic, ie. cars, small vans, motorbikes etc. There will be no HGV access and we are putting a width restriction and additional signage in place to advise any HGV’s that it is not suitable for them and they will not be able to get through. This will be in place with immediate effect.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely, and should further changes be required to ensure safety is maintained these will be put in place.
