Folkestone Harbour Arm is gearing up for an exciting 2023 summer season after it announced it will be welcoming six new large restaurants to the visitor destination on the Kent coast.

The new collection of restaurant units reflects the confidence in the harbour as a visitor attraction, which is owned and managed by the Folkestone Harbour & Seafront Development Company (FHSDC).

The development will include four entirely new restaurants that have been under construction over the past year. One is located on the beach towards the west of the site. Comprising seven shipping containers, this restaurant will be nearly twice the size of the largest restaurant currently on the site.

A further three bespoke new units have been constructed on the east side of the site, along the quayside edge of the harbour. Fully glass fronted, these three restaurants of various sizes will boast previously unattainable, uninterrupted views across the English Channel towards the White Cliffs and France on the horizon.

Having opened to the public in 2015 after an extensive restoration project, the Folkestone Harbour Arm has established itself as unique attraction, with more than two million visitors to the harbour and seafront last year.

Paulo Kingston-Correia, General Manager of FHSDC, said: “The new restaurants, created and housed in a collection of upcycled shipping containers, will build upon the success of Little Rock restaurant, which has exceeded expectations since opening in 2021.

“We are confident 2023 will be a year quite unlike any other for the growth of Folkestone Harbour and offer an all-year-round food and drink experience. We are working closely with the new arrivals and will be unveiling the all-new foodie offering shortly.”

Folkestone Harbour has grown year on year, quickly developing a reputation as a beacon of redevelopment on the south east coast. What was once just six small businesses is now a thriving community of street food style kiosks, bars, restaurants, a big screen, an adventure golf course and even a champagne bar in a lighthouse.
