UPDATE On Major Gas Works: Hawley Road Area Of Dartford

As you are aware, we have been carrying out essential upgrades to our gas network in the Hawley Road area of Dartford recently. Our project involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply. Our contractor JDT Utilities is carrying out this work on our behalf.

We have recently experienced some issues in the area that require us to carry out some urgent upgrades to our gas network in Church Road so I would like to provide you with some details about this work.

So that we can minimise disruption we have carefully consulted and planned our work in partnership with Kent County Council. We have agreed to start our work after the morning school drop-off tomorrow, Wednesday 4 December and expect it to last approximately five days. This means that if all goes to plan we will have completed our work and have Church Road re-opened by Monday 9 December.

To allow us to complete our work safely we need to temporarily close Church Road between the junctions of Main Road and Arnolds Lane. Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and for residents of Church Road via Arnolds Lane from the north and Main Road from the south. Signed diversions will be in place for through traffic and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout. The diversion route for motorists wishing to access the church will be via Arnolds Lane.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the short notice of this notification and any inconvenience that may be caused by these essential upgrade works, I assure you that every effort will be made by our operatives to keep any disruption to a minimum.

We have further upgrades to carry out in the area and we will continue with these following the completion of our work on Church Road.

We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, Sutton at Hone residents and businesses will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
